INJECTION THERAPIES

BOTOX COSMETIC®

BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of lines and wrinkles—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Your specialist will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity.

How it works:

Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes that can occur over time, reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals in the sun and the environment. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet.

Real, noticeable results

You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to 6 months.

Some patients report that being injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic feels like a pinch

If you are concerned about discomfort, your specialist may apply a topical numbing cream or ice before administering your treatment.

The actual injection process takes only minutes when carried out by an experienced medical professional

Your specialist will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you.

You’ll look like yourself—only with less noticeable lines

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment. You should not lose the ability to show expression when you are treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and a medical expert in facial anatomy.

Return to your daily routine

Treatment requires minimal downtime or recovery; it’s often called a lunchtime procedure. You’ll be able to go about your normal routine immediately after you leave your specialist’s office.

Cost considerations

Your cost not only includes the price of the product, but more importantly, the skill and expertise of the healthcare professional who is administering your treatment. There are optimal dosages of Botox to achieve the desired results and these will be discussed with you pre treatment.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment—look for someone who is licensed and trained and has experience treating patients with BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Be wary of discount products or “cheap” BOTOX® Cosmetic—if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

It is more important to find an experienced specialist who will take the time to understand your treatment goals and develop a treatment plan that is right for you.

The Lip Flip

What exactly is a “lip flip”? How does it work?

“When we’re talking about lip flips, we are referring to Botox injections – not to be confused with dermal filler in the lips. It’s a totally different procedure and provides a different result for clients”

“It basically involves a few small injections of toxin into the muscle, just above the lip border. What happens is, the toxin relaxes the muscle around the mouth (the obicularis oris muscle, to be specific). This action allows the top lip to be gently rolled out, creating a subtle, sexy pout and the illusion of added volume.”

What does the treatment itself involve?

The treatment is extremely quick and simple. After an initial consultation and verification from the prescribing doctor, four small injections are administered just above the top lip

How much does it cost?

Prices start at $40 for all four injections depending on the individual muscle strength.

How long does it last?

Most require retreatment every 2-4 months – treatments around the mouth dissipate faster than in other areas due the amount of movement that occurs regularly in that area.

Does it hurt?

If you can handle a blood test, you can handle this.

Is there any recovery time?

Some people have experienced pinprick bruises and some mild redness/swelling, which settles quickly and is rare.

In the days that follow there can be some numbness in the top lip.

Have there been any bad reactions?

Reactions are extremely rare. Botox is used in very small quantities for cosmetic procedures and are FDA/Health Canada -approved. Always make sure you see a qualified doctor/nurse.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on if it is your first visit, it will take only 15-20 minutes to do a consult and the treatment. The treatment itself takes approx. 5 minutes

How long does it take to start seeing results?

Results will appear after only a few days.

Why do people choose the lip flip over lip fillers?

“The lip flip is a more subtle result than filler, it’s also a good choice for someone not wanting volume, rather a slight poutiness to the top lip.”

What won’t you get from the lip flip that you’ll get from lip fillers?

“Fillers last you 6-12 months post-treatment. They will provide more volume and plumping (top and bottom) as well as a sharper and more defined border. The dermal filler will also have no effect on the muscle movement surrounding the mouth.“
